Coffee Uplifts People (CUP) is at the forefront of a movement to redefine the coffee industry's legacy. As a Brooklyn-based pioneer in the world of specialty coffee, we champion a diverse and inclusive approach.
Founded amidst the social upheavals of 2020 by Tony Forte, Angela Yee, and LaRon Batchelor, we're committed to transforming the coffee landscape through Diversity, Inclusion, Representation, and Equity (D.I.R.E.). By establishing direct-trade relationships with growers in Ethiopia, Peru, Indonesia, Mexico, Kenya, and Brazil, we ensure that every cup not only tastes extraordinary but also upholds our ideals of social justice and community support.

Tony Forte
Tony Forte, also a Brooklyn native and first-generation American, combines his entrepreneurial acumen with a deep commitment to social equity at CUP. With a background in fashion and lifestyle branding, Tony’s innovative leadership is instrumental in driving CUP’s mission to transform the coffee landscape through sustainable and ethical practices.
Angela Yee
Angela Yee, a Brooklyn native and child of immigrants, brings her extensive media influence and community engagement experience to CUP. As the host of the nationally syndicated radio show Way Up With Yee and a former co-host of The Breakfast Club, Angela leverages her platform to advocate for diversity and inclusion within the coffee industry and beyond.
